The Healing Home Rescue is a nonprofit built on the belief that rescue is a two-way street. Just as we save dogs, they, in turn, help heal us. We rescue dogs from high-kill shelters in the South, provide them with medical care, safe transport, and loving foster homes, and match them with families in Connecticut who will cherish them forever. Our mission is rooted in the understanding that all beings are connected, and through compassion, care, and second chances, we create a ripple effect of healing—for the dogs we save, the people who adopt them, and the communities we serve. We are all interconnected, and our goal is to help promote healing through connection across species, whether person or puppy. Every one matters.

In our organization, we believe in matching the perfect fur baby to the right home, ensuring that both pets and families thrive together. We proudly offer subsidized dog adoptions for disabled veterans and other groups who would greatly benefit from the companionship of loyal canine friend. We’re developing events that give back in meaningful ways—like offering free haircuts to those experiencing homelessness, distributing Narcan kits with educational pamphlets on overdose response and access to rehabilitative services, and raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl.
We’re also planning initiatives that nurture both people and the planet, including local beach cleanups and mental health walk-and-talks—guided, healing conversations set in nature to encourage open dialogue and emotional wellbeing.
